I remember reading about a man who was disappeared probably by orcas. in the late '60s or early '70s he lived on an island in the Juan de Fuca straight of British Columbia and commuted to his house by boat. Some say he was a crazy hippy who wanted to live off the land and got bored out there so he shot at things with his .22 rifle. One of the things was the dorsal fins of Orcas that swam through his commute. Locals cautioned him about offending them because Orcas are smart and have pretty good eyesight so they can identify individuals on the shore. He didnt listen and he and his boat both disappeared.
