I believe the author meant "last Glacial Period" when they said "last Ice Age". The Earth is currently in a 2.56 million-year ice age named the Quaternary Glaciation that won't end until all natural ice melts, in an interglacial period named the Holocene that alternates with glacial periods. The glacial periods usually last around 90,000 years and the interglacial periods usually last around 10,000 years. The interglacial period the Earth is in has lasted 11,700 years.
