One interesting implication of hot underground water is that there is likely to be mineralized hydrothermal veins, like you have on Earth. In fact, because the same region of crust remains over mantle plumes, and does not move off of them as on Earth, volcanic regions could be heavily mineralized -- perhaps enormous vein systems with gold, copper, silver, etc.

The next steps would be to take temperature reading With drill on the the plume and do a sonar pulse reading to get visual of effects.
