Urobilinogen is excreted mostly in the feces, but a small fraction is absorbed from the colon, enters the portal circulation, is removed by the liver, and is secreted into the bile. That which is not removed from the portal blood by the liver enters the systemic circulation and is excreted by the kidneys."... bilirubin, which is secreted from the liver into the gut. Bacteria within the gut convert bilirubin into a colorless substance called urobilinogen. This substance then degrades into urobilin, a yellow pigment that gives urine its color."
So if urobilin is produced in the gut, how does it get into urine?
