Astronomers may have detected a dozen large objects lurking beyond the Kuiper Belt at the edge of our solar system, suggesting there could be another equally massive, "second Kuiper Belt" hiding beyond the orbit of Pluto.

More than eight planets orbit the Sun, as dwarf planets are a subclass of planets. Please do not blindly repeat the controversial IAU position without acknowledging the ongoing debate on the definition of a planet. According to the geophysical definition, a minimum of 13 planets and counting orbit the Sun.

Indeed, just because they have found a lot of smaller planets out there past Pluto was the real reason this whole reclassification fiasco got started, it doesn't change the fact that everyone considered Pluto to be a planet up to that point. To me, if it has enough gravity to arrange itself into a sphere, and isn't a moon, it's a planet.
