I was just about to enter a comment that would have said the same things. This is a very enlightening article - also, it helps to understand another complexity in the chain of events that led to ice ages. Previously, I just thought of the possibility of Earth and the solar system moving through dust clouds as being a primary cause. There's a lot to learn about life.
