CERN's proposed $17 billion particle collider would search for new and unknown physics, but it has drawn fire for its hefty price tag.

If you are going to report on Particle Physics, please make sure your math skills are up to par. The new collider is over 11 times larger. Tripling the diameter of something doesn't simply mean it's three times bigger.

That's all nice and pedantic, but the only measurement that matters for a particle collider of this type is circumference, not diameter or area inside the circle. I'm admittedly not a particle physicist, nor a mathematician, but I do remember how to divide, and 91km is 3.37 times greater than 27km, so it would appear as though the title of this article is essentially accurate.
