So, once again our governmental systems were damaged by slavery, and continue to be so today. We're still stuck with the Electoral College because the slave states wouldn't accept the Constitution without this mechanism, because so many of their inhabitants were slaves. And of course a Constitutional Amendment is almost impossible to pass, especially with many states invested in keeping that loathsome relic. Meanwhile, voters in populous states count for less than 1 person 1 vote, while other stats' voters count for more. Ridiculous.

So you're saying that the citizens of every other Democracy in the world aren't citizens, but subjects? Rubbish. The Electors aren't even bound to represent the voters in their states, although they usually do. No Democratic system ever has had Electors standing in the way. No, this was done to appease slave owners only. But I'm sure that the slave states still support it. The leaders there, like plantation owners, are still very un-democratic.
