From what I have read about tardigrades, they seem to be a likely candidate for Lithopanspermia (interstellar panspermia). Is there any research into their DNA to see if other earth life forms may have evolved from them?

I wouldn't be surprised if Tardigrades did give rise to a phylum of complex life, via Lithopanspermia. I've known several women who would induce into the Tardigrade's tun state when I asked for their phone numbers.
