It's literally impossible for this to be accurate. Sagittarius A* is over25,000 light years from us. There's no possible way for anything it does to be detected from Earth just 200 years after the fact

No, it wouldn't. The article didn't say that the flare-up happened in the centre of the Milkyway 200 Earth years ago, it said that it arrived here 200 years ago.
