I have read the article. It refers to Protein S. I am a person who is low in Protein S. My doctor said Protein S helps to keep your blood from clotting so I would need blood thinners if I have surgery. Are these two Protein S the same thing? Does anyone know?

There are at least 2 different "protein S" proteins: check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_S on Wiki for the one involved in coagulation and there is the spike protein S on the corona virus.
