Roman Republic: The rise and fall of ancient Rome's government

Perhaps, just hopefully perhaps, the possession of nuclear weapons and "smart" delivery systems may override human passions, greed, revenge, paranoia, avarice, dominance and blood lust with the realization that H. Sadly, IMO, human passions and associated fools still have the greater probability. E.G.: Rome found reasons to use its legions.

I had four years of Latin in secondary school. It was basically four years of Roman history, taught in Latin. I wouldn't describe the roman empire as flourishing. They were looters and enslavers. My Latin professor absolutely loved them. As for their fall...........they ran out of money.
