In America everyone has a right to express their opinions, logic or facts notwithstanding. Ostensibly, the voters get to decide, and the courts rule as to conformity with the Constitution and existing laws. It's a workable if not somewhat contentious system that is an alternative to tyranny, violence and chaos.
