Rock Formation Query

I am very interested to learn more about this rock formation which seems to me to be a little odd. (It should be said that I know nothing about geology worth speaking about! )
The rock face is sandstone but what the rock is in the fault that I have photographed I have no idea. There is a limestone ridge just the other side of a small river to this feature. The location is on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border n the UK, the river is the border, and this is in Nottinghamshire.

I would be most grateful if anyone can tell me anything about this.

Many thanks,
Andrew-Bede

To me It looks like a magmatic intrusion
Thank you for your reply. As I said my knowledge of geology is minimal, but I presume that a magmatic intrusion is an eruption of magma? Does that mean there was a volcano somewhere in the vicinity in the distant past? Please could you explain a little or point me to a reliable website. Thanks again.
