Question Our Courts Legitimize Infantile Fools and Oligarchs. So Why Exactly Are We Supposed to "Trust the System"?

Countries have Constitutions which establish the legal frame work for governance. The citizens agree to live under that legal frame work. That's the SYSTEM. Ostensibly, citizens can change the Constitution as well as the laws that are created under that Constitution. That's also is the SYSTEM. The politicians administer the SYSTEM. It's the politicians that can't be trusted 1. because of the very nature of politics, and 2. because they are human also. Hand wringing, gnashing of teeth, whining, pouting, quitting are ineffective at political change. So get politically involved, vote, contact your representatives regularly and be informed. Legally and peacefully, work to change politicians per ones' beliefs. That's the SYSTEM. N.B.: Political compromise while distasteful actually works for the common good. Thus, the "Ball" and attendant responsibility are in ones' court, (let me add, in most countries).

We can only trust the system when the people have the sole and exclusive right to fund the politicians who make the laws, and there is proper record and later disclosure of why a political decisions was made.

Politicians who do political favors for business should be prosecuted and not be ever allowed to work in that business area.

The short term answer is to stop business funding politicians - and allow all voters an equal and free financial credit gift that they can donate to any or multiple political parties to fund the political activities.

No other political funding should be allowed.

As politicians find a way around these restrictions - by say doing a favor now for a job later the rules can be modified.

I dont think many politicians would support these ideas but they should be asked to do so or why they object.

There should be term limits for politicians and accountability for the decisions made by non elected officials.

Pension bonuses should be paid to politicians and government officials for decisions that are shown to have improved economic output, quality of life and clean up the environment.

If the bonus is not collected in one lifetime it can be paid to nominated children or grandchildren for their retirement.

Give everyone an interest in good long term outcomes

We need to understand how the system was designed to empower us. It is not as simple as "one person, one vote". In 2022, here is the only path to real change for our people that we so desperately need:
1) Take the state legislatures back from corrupt party politicians. We achieve this by organizing on a local level in our own communities and decide who our real leaders are. Rather than registering with or creating a political party, these chosen leaders must be elected by write-in.
2) The one issue on which all of these elected leaders must coincide is the repeal of the 17th Amendment. Upon the repeal of this amendment, control over the election of state senators will fall back on the state legislatures as originally intended.
3) Recall that we have just taken back the power from the major parties in our local legislatures. Having restored the right to elect senators to our newly chosen leaders, these leaders shall in turn be mandated to elect politically unaffiliated leaders to represent each state in the Senate. Having been chosen by the people in their communities, our new leaders in the state legislatures shall be well equipped to select Senators who are in touch with the pulse of their local communities. This removes the "House of Lords" vibe currently emanating from the higher chamber of Congress.
4) Continue to vote for your chosen party in the House as normal. Having experience in the mechanisms of policy and our government in general, these people will be well equipped to work with our newly chosen leaders in the Senate to revitalize America like never before. The Senate will act as a proper check on the partisan vitriol that has come to consume our politics.

This is just the beginning.

Logically, I agree with altruism that fosters rational, peaceful, equitable governance via laws enacted by elected officials and adjudicated for Constitutionality by courts. However, humans just ain't that way when it comes to their marked self-interests. Realistically, Historically, and Practically, politics is simply a human convention for one or more groups to gain an enforceable advantage over other one or more groups. (Insert greed, avarice, criminality, prejudice, profit, confiscation, etc for meaningful precision). Politics as practiced in government, businesses, social groups, religion, families, whatever is basically a mechanism to prevent human violence towards each other. That's why legislative and social compromise work, and are essential for civilized societies. (Defined crime being an exception). Political Altruism is a laudable goal, but impracticable and unrealistic. It's the peoples' responsibility to determine the nature, scope and function of politics/politicians. Such is an endless, very difficult job. Note: Human Evolution while a "sparkling" improvement over Nature "Red with Tooth and Claw", still reverts to the primitive as "if H. Sapiens were only 20 years out of a tree" as the events of the 20th century attest. I prefer the voting booth, and jaw boning my elected representatives for my vested interests, with or without "success".
