If I remember well, one of the oldest VIH cases was an Scandinavian sailor, who used travelling to the Equatorial regions of Africa, and died of something later was described as AIDS, his wife and girl too, this was in late 40s. After study of frozen blood, VIH contagion was confirmed. Am I right? Blessings +

Read the book "Spillover: Animal infections and the next human pandemic" in which the author (David Quammen) documents the earliest blood sample showing HIV-1 Group M, Subtype B (the one that spread virulently in humans) recorded in 1908 in Cameroon near the border of Congo, DRC, etc. That is truly the oldest, at least so far. Sprang from SIV cpz (Simian -chimpanzee)
