This seems to imply that the beam sweeps through space like a lighthouse beam, due to the star's rotation. But if the beam is coming from the star's poles, then its direction should not be affected by the star's rotation, right? It would be like a beam shooting straight up from a lighthouse tower. So is the beam really from the star's poles, or does it just "sweep" due to other-than-rotation motions of the star?
