scientists spotted a swirling siphonophore
off Western Australia's coast
in length it was about a hectometer
that's a fact, it isn't a boast

they scooped up the glob in a colander
and viewed it's aspects on a monitor
but that day in Australia
it died of heart failure
bruised by a sphygmomanometer

A hundred and fifty foot long animalcule,
Found adrift in salt water near a barrier reef.
While egg heads say it's a denizen of the deep,
Those that agree face increasing ridicule.

A specimen was laid out at RAAF Wagga Wagga,
Just before the men sat down for lunch.
Oh, said one, it's time for a bunch
Of that long jello like piece of roota-bagga.
