" infinitely accurate thermometer" is required for an infinite chase. Cool! Cold is the absence of heat, heat is a derivative of light. The temperature of today's outer space cannot be compared to pre-big bang temps. Heat was added to the system post Big Bang. True absolute zero (close) would be the M side of e = mc2, but the potential energy in matter would be present adding a smidge of heat. Not achievable true absolute 'cold' KE PE , transformation.
It's not of practical importance to achieve.
