The past few years have been emotionally numbing for human sensibilities. Consequently, few humans perceive the possibility of "Doomsday" with the result that localized national hatreds, violence, mayhem could escalate to use up those 100 seconds. We are an intelligent, insightful species, but ,it would seem , with genes that are lagging.
