This is interesting news. 12P/Pons-Brooks would not have to impact earth for a cataclysmic result, following a massive eruption while traveling in its closest passing.
I would imagine in my novice imagination, that the explosive force of these cryovolcanic episodes comprises a large area removed from this comet.
I won't ask if there is a chance; there is always a chance of this scenario occurring.
