Any living thing, especially complex life forms has won the biggest, the best, and the most wonderful "lottery" of Nature and Evolution in the Universe, life. Given what we know of Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Cosmology, the odds are, what we the "lucky ones" have, i.e.: life, is as good as it gets. Magical and wishful thinking and fear of a cold reality notwithstanding, unprovable beliefs in an afterlife provide a useful and effective "psychological balm" for our species against that cold reality. Such is not unwelcome.
