"The SARS-CoV-2 lineage circulated in bats for 50 or 60 years before jumping to humans," Boni said. Near the end of 2019, "someone just got very unlucky" and came into contact with SARS-CoV-2 and that set off a
pandemic.
Nobody got 'unlucky' if Covid-19 came from a bat with a novel virus festering for 1 year or 60 years. It's choices that were made that resulted in this natural infection passing.
While it's impossible to prove, that would only leave eating of bats or a very unclean environment where bat feces effected somebody's food as the possible cause of contagion (less likely candidates: infected researchers or people keeping bat pets and breathing in close proximity).
It's not luck, it's a society that eats bats or a very dirty environment that is the most likely cause. And regarding the environment, the most likely cause is a wet market. Let's just get the facts without 'luck' involved in science please.
