A 'normal' resting heart rate may not be so normal after all

Now at age 80, this 70 beats is about right. However, when I was a jogger in my mid thirties to my mid sixties, the resting rate was about 50-54.

I am nearly 70 and started running about a year ago. My rhr went from 80+ to about 60 now. I think I'm okay, but I wonder about variance-- drops to as low as 56, then later up to 62 or so, but typically settles around 60. I wonder if that much variance is okay, but it seems little is known about this.
