Having seen hard-core alcoholics on the way to killing themselves through drink, they will drink ANYTHING with alcohol if they don't have a normal beverage. Most have a fried brain

It's not an alcohol substitute - it HAS alcohol. It's a beverage substitute, but hard core buzz-seekers don't care if their buzz is from a drink. Some people drink cough syrup. Gross, but it works when you need a fix. Also, most alcoholics doing this are not typically high-functioning. Don't expect them to know much at all, especially those with a brain thoroughly pickled by three decades of constant intoxication.

@Bruzote : yeah, THE ROBO-BUZZ. Heard about it. Sounded interesting, but I didn't drink THEN, so.....
