Some apparent contradictions in the article. It first mentions a bottleneck in early Medieval times, which would put it around the 6th or 7th century, then it mentions the bottleneck being around 1000 A.D. which would put it past the middle of the Dark Ages. Which is it?

Then there's the glaring contradiction in the headline. It there was a bottleneck in the 11th century how could 14th century Ashkenazim have more genetic diversity than modern Ashkenazim? Is that due to the Holocaust? The author fails to address the reason even though the headline suggests it is the crux of the article.

Am I missing something?
